An AuDHDer's Guide to Regulation
"The beauty of knowing about sensory is that I can finally unmask and truly know myself." - Bettina Lopez-Lam.
I met Bettina when she enrolled in my Sensory Certificate Course for SLPs in 2021.
At the time, Bettina did not know she was Autistic. Bettina was in the process of seeking an autism diagnosis for her oldest son.
During this process, she realized that she too, might be Autistic.
Bettina received her autism diagnosis 2 months after her son did.
Bettina is the type of person to go all in when it comes to learning something new.
She currently owns her own private practice, Milk and Honey, where she provides therapy and consulting for a variety of areas including Speech & Language, Feeding & Lactation, Sensory, and Gestalt Language Processing.
I had the honor of interviewing her on my live show and it was such an amazing conversation.
On the episode, we discussed:
âś” How learning about sensory strategies has helped her work life, her marriage, and her son in school...
âś” Painful experiences she had as child, what she's learned, and how you can help your clients and children to start advocating for their needs from a very young age...
âś” Her path to neurodiversity affirming practices, seeing things from the Autistic perspective, working through cultural expectations, and how she got to where she is now...
âś” And easy to use strategies that have helped her stay regulated and how you can use them with your own clients…
If you would like to hear her story, I highly recommend checking out this episode of my live show, Making the Shift, Episode 59: An AuDHDer's Guide To Regulation
